The Nez Perce County Fair is a long-standing regional fair that has been running for over 80 years. Each year, the fair adopts a theme related to its anniversary, typically using a rhyming or playful phrase.

For 2026, the theme was Red, White & Blue, We’re 82. After brainstorming a variety of concepts, the final direction featured a cartoon-style illustration. The design was created using 1950s animation and Looney Tunes cartoons as primary inspiration. The final artwork was developed as a hand-drawn vector illustration.

The fair also required a new map of the fairgrounds to replace an outdated version and to accommodate a separate RV camping-focused map. A top-down map of the grounds was used as a reference to create an accurate traced layout of the property. Using this as a foundation, a surrounding template was developed that could be adapted for additional events hosted at the fairgrounds.

For 2025, the theme was 81 and Still Having Fun, which reflected the concept of seniors participating in youthful activities. A stock vector illustration featuring a group of senior citizens served as the core visual element of the design. The number 81 was styled to resemble a Mylar balloon, which was created using a combination of design techniques alongside Adobe Firefly.

The theme for 2024 was Holy Cow, We’re 80 Now. The creative direction from the fair board called for a literal interpretation of the phrase, featuring a cow with wings and a halo. A combination of stock assets was used to create a cartoon-style version of the cow, which served as the primary design element. One of the fair’s display booths was also recreated as a backdrop, featuring a variety of framed images highlighting significant moments from the fair’s history.
